May 28th, 2018

Monday might have meant the Memorial Day holiday for many Americans but harness racing fans may have made the journey to Harrington Raceway for the live card.

In the opening race on the Monday card, Cinder Block (Mike Cole) left to secure good early position, sat a loose pocket to the half and three-quarters, angled out top stretch and just got up. It was the fifth straight win for Cinder Block who scored in 1:55.2 for trainer Kyle Moore.

Two races later on the card, Kiss A Dragon (Russell Foster) lived up to his role as the 1-5 favorite in a conditioned event when he quarter moved to command, maintained an honest tempo to the half and three-quarters and held sway late to score in 1:52.2 for his owner-trainer-driver.

Then one race later in the featured $16,000 Open Handicap for older pacers, Blazing Bobby Sox (Art Stafford, Jr.) left and raced parked to gain command in a 27.2 opener, rolled by the half in 56 and three-quarters in 1:24.3 and drew clear in the lane to a two-length score in 1:52.2.

A seven-year-old son of The Panderosa  owned and trained by Stafford, Blazing   Bobby Sox notched his second straight score and sixth win in 14 starts this year and he now boasts 26 wins in 78 lifetime outings  and now owns career earnings just shy of $300,000.

Then one race later in a non-winners of $13,551 last five starts class, Silver Fox J (Cole) overcame post eight to forge a 17-1 shocked in 1:53.2. A six-year-old Kenneth J gelding trained by Joe Columbo, Silver Fox J now owns four wins in 19 starts this year after outlasting the inside bid of Ponderingjackafame (Victor Kirby) in the last 100 yards.
