High Dollar Woman leads all the way in Indiana Oaks upset

Alex and JoAnn Lieblong’s High Dollar Woman provided a high win payout of $32.40 when wiring Saturday’s $206,900 Indiana Oaks (G2) under jockey Joe Rocco Jr.
The duo hit the front soon after the gates opened and never looked back en route to a one-length victory as the 15-1 third longest shot in the nine-filly field.
Sweetgrass kept pressure on High Dollar Woman throughout the 1 1/16-mile contest, but just could not get past her rival and ended up finishing second as the winner stopped the clock in 1:43.49 over the sloppy, sealed main track at Indiana Grand.
Oceanwave, the 2-1 favorite, put in a nice run down the lane. The gray lass was another 2 1/4 lengths back in third after saving ground near the back before angling four wide at the quarter-pole.
Nobody was catching High Dollar Woman, though, as the chestnut miss dug deep to score her first stakes victory. The sophomore was making just her second stakes try after finishing fifth in the Martha Washington S. at Oaklawn Park on January 31.
That was High Dollar Woman’s final start for Tony Dutrow as she found herself switching barns to Steve Hobby, who wouldn’t send her back out until June 26 for a runner-up effort against allowance/optional claiming rivals at Indiana Grand.
