Holland's North America Racing Picks for July 23

Gulfstream

Race 1

Mark Casse wins with 16% of his first-time starters and saddles #9 Know How (4-1), a debuting daughter of excellent young turf sire No Nay Never, who is from the family of Goldikova. Dark bay has been working well for Casse, who wins with 15% of his runners on grass and who has won with 12% of his starters at this meet. Filly appears ready for a good first outing under Berrios, who has won with three of his last seven rides for the barn.

Race 3

Another newcomer from the Casse barn is #2 Sleek Lynx (6-1), who is by War Front and out of Sarah Lynx, who won the Canadian International (G1). Dark bay cost $335K earlier this year and posted a sharp 4-furlong work in :48 1/5 from the gate eight days ago for Casse, who has won with 14% of his runners this year. 2-year-old can win at first asking under Berrios.

Saratoga

Race 10

#3 Deputy Flag (9-2) gets class relief after giving way badly as the favorite on turf last month in his first start since being claimed by Brad Cox in January. Son of Posse finished second in one previous start on this track and Cox wins with 36% of his runners second off the claim. Gelding figures to be sent early and Irad Ortiz retains the mount.

Indiana

Race 4

Trainer Cox wins with 25% of his second-time starters and saddles #1 Cash Now (5-2), who faded to finish fourth in his debut on the main track here last month. Son of 13% grass sire Hard Spun is out of Hidden Assets, who won the Shirley Jones (G3) and who has produced seven winners on grass. Chestnut figures to be sent early breaking from the rail under De la Cruz, who has won with 21% of his rides for the barn in the past two months.

Woodbine

Race 6

#6 Explorationist (4-1) won his one previous start on this main track and comes off a weakening fifth place finish on turf at Belmont last month in his first outing since early-March. Son of Pioneerof the Nile is trained by Mark Casse, who wins with 18% of his runners second off a layoff. Colt can be on or near the early lead with Lermyte up.

Canterbury

Race 6

Larry Sterling claimed #6 Izzy in a Tizzy (7-2) when the son of Tiznow finished second facing easier over the track and distance in his latest last month in his first start since his debut in February. Son of Tiznow cost $220K as a yearling and Sterling won with his most recent runner first off the claim. 4-year-old can be near the front from the start with Eikleberry in the saddle.
