Holland's North America Racing Picks for July 25
Saratoga
Race 7
#4 Kingmeister (8-1) makes his turf debut in his first start for the McGaughey barn. Colt finished ahead of Modernist, who subsequently won a Risen Star (G2) division, and was last seen breaking his maiden at Gulfstream in January. Son of Bodemeister should take to grass being out of Gold d’oro, who finished third in the Suwannee River (G3) on turf at Gulfstream. Bay has been working well and can be in good early position with Lezcano riding.
Race 9
Todd Pletcher wins with 30% of his runners that have not raced for 90+ days and saddles #7 Mo Ready (6-1), who has been gelded since a fading fifth at this distance in the Central Park S. at Aqueduct in December. Son of Uncle Mo has won one of three starts on turf and Pletcher has made a strong start with his runners this meet. 3-year-old can be stalking the early pace under Jose Ortiz, who has won with four of his last 12 rides for the barn.
Gulfstream
Race 7
Maiden claimers going 6 furlongs include #9 Gino Time (20-1), who debuts for 12% first-out trainer Maria Bowersock. Gelding has a good win-early pedigree being by Big Drama and out of a mare by Werblin and has been working well for Bowersock, who wins with 11% overall in maiden claiming events. Dark bay could surprise at first asking with Allen in the saddle.
Ellis
Race 9
Trainer Rusty Arnold wins with 24% of his runners second time off a layoff and saddles #11 Cibolian (12-1), who finished well after a troubled start over one mile at Churchill last month in his first start since his debut in January. Son of Temple City is out of a half-sister to Pegasus World Cup (G1) runner-up Mr Freeze and Arnold won with one of his first two starters at this meet. Dark bay can along late with Graham retaining the mount.
Monmouth
Race 7
#8 So Dialed In (6-1) debuts for trainer Thomas, who wins with 14% of his first-time starters. Son of 11% first-out sire Dialed In is out of a mare by Tapit and recent works include a sharp 3-furlong move from the gate in :36 2/5 for Thomas, who wins with 22% overall in maiden special weight events. Gelding appears ready for a good effort with Vargas in the irons.
Woodbine
Race 6
A couple of second-time starters catch the eye including #3 Pacenza (12-1), who gets Lasix added off a closing fourth-place finish in her debut on the main track over 5 1/2 furlongs last month. Daughter of Creative Cause should appreciate the surface change and longer distance and trainer Attard has won with 16% of starters at this meet. #9 Barkin (6-1) also gets Lasix this time and closed to narrowly miss in her debut on the Tapeta surface here last month. Trainer Day wins with 16% of her runners first time on grass and daughter of Animal Kingdom can be running late under Wilson, who has won with 12% of her rides for the barn in the past two months.
Del Mar
Race 9
Trainer Gaines wins with 22% of her runners second time off a layoff and saddles #4 Over Attracted (15-1), who closed from just off the pace to finish second at this distance at Santa Anita last month in her first start since finishing unplaced in France in March. Daughter of Atreides posted a good 4-furlong work in :48 nine days ago for Gaines, who has won with 12% of her runners this year. Dark bay can be in good position throughout with Smith taking the mount.
