Holland's North American Expert Picks for July 14

Handicapper Tim Holland brings us free picks from Indiana Grand, Belterra Park, Parx Racing and Canterbury Park!

Indiana Grand

Race 1

Trainer Nance wins with 26% of his first-time starters and saddles #4 Dance Money (6-1), a debuting daughter of new sire Majestic Harbor who is out of a mare by 14% first-out sire Cactus Ridge. Works include a decent 4-furlong move in :48 2/5 from the gate eight days ago for Nance, who wins with 45% of his runners overall in maiden special weight events. Filly appears ready for a good first outing with Sanjur aboard.

Race 4

Plenty of early pace may help chances of a closer such as #8 Jareth (15-1), who was never a threat facing better in his latest at this distance at Lone Star in early June in his first start since October. Trainer Sharp wins with 22% of his runners second off a layoff and son of Hard Spun finished third in one previous start on this turf. Gelding can be along late under Beschizza, who has won with one of his last nine rides for the barn.

Belterra Park

Race 2

#10 California Sun (9-2) won his one previous start on this turf and drops in class off a fading unplaced effort after chasing the early pace at this distance at Tampa in May. Son of Fed Biz has been working well since his latest for trainer Hamm, who wins with 14% of his claimers. Chestnut can be forwardly placed from the start under Corrales, who has won with 31% of his rides for the barn in the past two months.

Parx Racing

Race 11

Maidens on turf include #8 Masterful Touch (6-1), who gets Lasix added off a sixth-place finish when making belated progress in his debut at Laurel early last month. Trainer Lawrence wins with 18% of his second time starters and has won with seven of his last 17 runners with Lasix for the first time. Bay can show more here with Carrasco riding.

Canterbury Park

Race 4

Trainer Berndt wins with 16% of his second-time starters and saddles #4 Malibu Jack (9-2), who weakened to finish fifth after chasing the early leaders in his debut here last month. Son of Malibu Moon cost $275K last year and Berndt has won with 16% of his runners this meet. Gelding figures to show improvement with Eikleberry remaining aboard.
