Holland's North American Free Picks for Dec. 10
Tim Holland has a couple of plays for Laurel Park on Thursday, as well as selections for Fair Grounds, Los Alamitos and Turfway Park.
Laurel Park
Race 5
Maidens going a mile include #5 She’sanearthmover (5-1), who weakened to finish unplaced in a 6-furlong maiden special weight event in her debut at Presque Isle in mid-October. Daughter of First Samurai has worked well since her first outing for trainer Trombetta, who wins with 18% of his second-time starters. Filly should show more here with Cintron riding.
Race 6
#7 Inside Risk (8-1) comes off a fifth-place finish in an even effort over the track and distance last month. Trainer Capuano has won with 23% of his runners at this meet and son of Street Sense has a record of 8-3-1-2 on this oval. Gelding has been improving all year and can be along from off the pace under Crispin, who has won with two of his last seven rides for the barn.
Fair Grounds
Race 6
Trainer Proctor wins with 18% of his runners that have not raced for 46-90 days and saddles #2 Cloud Ten (6-1), who closed to finish second over a mile and 70 yards at Presque Isle in October in her second outing. Filly tries turf for the first time and should be best suited to this surface being by Gleneagles and out of a mare by Street Cry. Proctor wins with 19% of his runners on grass for the first time, and filly can be along late with Sanjur in the saddle.
Los Alamitos
Race 4
Maidens include #9 Pirates Cross (7-2), a debuting daughter of Many Rivers, whose offspring win 18% of their first outings. Works include a decent 4 furlong move in :47 4/5 recently for trainer Hollendorfer, who wins with 22% of his maiden claimers. Chestnut appears ready for a good first outing with Cedillo taking the mount.
Turfway Park
Race 7
#7 Loving Moment (10-1) has a record of 2-1-0-1 on this oval and exits an easy win on Mountaineer's turf in mid-October. Trainer Reed wins with 19% of his runners that have not raced for 46-90 days and with 18% that won last time out. Daughter of Uncle Mo can be closing late with McKee in the irons.
