Holland's North American Free Racing Picks for July 13

Handicapper Tim Holland begins a new week as he leaves a successful previous week. Can he repeat his successes? Last week Tim hit nice payouts through winners Giant Stella ($87.50) and Pop a Choc ($28.60) at Belmont on July 9. This moved Tim to showing a slight profit overall of 3.7%. Selections at 5-1 or higher are now profiting at 30% after 794 races.

Indiana Grand

Race 4

Fillies on turf include #5 Sister Kitten (5-2), who closed from just off the pace when second at this distance in her latest at Churchill in May. Daughter of Kitten’s Joy has a record of 5-1-2-1 on grass and trainer Maker wins with 17% of his runners that have not raced for 46-90 days. Bay should get a nice trip from just off the pace under Corrales, who has won with three of his last 10 rides for the barn.

Delaware Park

Race 6

Trainer Bennett wins with 14% of his first-time starters and saddles #4 Twirling Thrill (4-1), a debuting daughter of 17% first-out sire Twirling Candy. 2-year-old is a half-sister to one winner and has been working well for Bennett, who won with one of his first six runners at this meet. Bay is likely ready to win at first asking with Betancourt up.

Race 7

#7 Kid Mercury (4-1) stretches out in distance off a fading sixth-place finish over 9 furlongs at Churchill in May. Son of Lemon Drop Kid should be suited to this 11-furlong trip and trainer Motion has won with 18% of his runners this year. Gray has won one of six starts on turf and can be in good position throughout with Cintron riding.

Canterbury Park

Race 2

Maidens going 5 furlongs include #3 Henry O’Henry (5-2), who debuts for Mac Robertson, who wins with 20% of his first-time starters. Gelding has a decent win-early pedigree and works include a sharp 5-furlong move in :59 2/5 from the gate six days ago. Bay appears ready for a good first outing under Roman, who has won with two of his last five rides for this stable.

Race 8

#3 Stormy Music (8-1) passed the post first before being disqualified in one of her three starts on this turf last year and comes off a distant third-place finish on dirt at Arapahoe last month in her first start since last August. Trainer McFarlane wins with 25% of his runners second off a layoff and with 21% of his starters on turf. Daughter of 15% grass sire Stormy Atlantic can be along from off the pace with Felix aboard.
