Handicapper Tim Holland has picks for Saratoga, Finger Lakes, Presque Isle Downs, and Penn National on Wednesday.
Saratoga
Race 7
#3 Love on the Run (6-1) has not been seen since weakening to finish fourth after vying for the early lead over 1 1/16 miles in her debut at Belmont in June. Daughter of Empire Maker is a half-sister to Belle Gallantey, who won the Beldame (G1) and trainer Mott wins with 15% of his second time starters. Filly can be on or near the lead throughout with Alvarado retaining the mount.
Race 8
Trainer Breen wins with 24% of his runners second off a layoff and saddles #8 Han Sense (9-2), who was prominent from the start when second in his latest at Belmont last month in his first outing since March. Gray won one of his two starts on an off track and Breen wins with 21% of his claimers. 6-year-old figures to be the one to catch with Cancel in the irons.
Finger Lakes
Race 4
Maidens over 5 1/2 furlongs include #11 Stone Hearted (20-1), a debuting son of 19% first-out sire Bustin Stones. Chestnut cost $50K last year and has been working forwardly for trainer Attanasio, who won with one of his last five runners in maiden claiming events. Gelding appears ready for a good first outing with Worrie riding.
Presque Isle
Race 1
Trainer Rivelli wins with 35% of his runners that have not raced for 90+ days and saddles #3 Juju’s Specialgirl (8-1), who has not been seen since closing to finish second on turf at Indiana in October when trained by Matt Shirer. Chestnut has been working well and tries an all-weather surfaced for the first time. Filly should find enough pace to close into with Pino up.
Penn National
Race 8
#4 Mad Momma (8-1) debuts for trainer Stites, who wins with 16% of his first-time starters. Filly has a good win early pedigree being by Mad Flatter and out of a mare by Primal Storm, and works include a fast 4-furlong move in :46 4/5 for Stites, who wins with 15% of his maiden claimers. 4-year-old is a half-sister to two winners and can win at first asking under Inirio, who has won with one of his last 14 rides for the barn.
