Holland's North American Free Racing Picks for July 28

July 28th, 2020

Handicapper Tim Holland returns Tuesday for picks form Parx and Indiana Grand.

Parx

Race 11

#6 Regal Retort (5-2) won one of two previous starts on this oval and comes off a closing fourth place finish over 6 1/2 furlongs at Belmont last month in her first start since last August. Daughter of Jimmy Creed has won three of nine career starts for Steve Asmussen, who wins with 19% of his runners second off a layoff. Bay can be closing into what should be a decent pace with Pennington taking the mount.

Race 12

Trainer Pino wins with 20% of his second time starters and saddles #7 Moza (7-2), who drops in class off a fading unplaced effort after vying for the early lead over the track and distance in her debut this month. Pino has won with 22% of his runners at this meet and daughter of Dominus may be hard to catch with Flores riding.

Indiana Grand

Race 3

Maidens going 6 furlongs include #6 Tap N Twine (12-1), who debuts for 9% first-out trainer Eric Reed. Filly has a good win-early pedigree being by Race Day and out of a mare by Twining and has been working forwardly for Reed, who has won with one of six starters at this meet. Half-sister to three winners can win at first asking with Wiseman in the irons.

Race 6

#10 Charlie’sarchangel (9-2) faded to finish unplaced after pressing the early pace over one mile on grass in his latest last month. Dark bay has won four of 14 career starts on regular dirt, trainer Amoss wins with 26% of his runners making this surface change, and colt led from the start when winning at this distance on the main track at Churchill two back. 4-year-old can be on or near the early lead under Parker, who has won with 22% of his rides for the barn in the past two months.
