Holland's North American free racing picks for July 29

Wednesday free picks from handicapper Tim Holland feature Saratoga, Indiana Grand and Canterbury Park! Tim comes off a pretty good week with a few decent priced winners for a total of 878 races and 166 winners (19%), a slight loss (-0.93) overall, BUT still a profit of 24% at odds of 5-1 or more.

Saratoga

Race 4

Maidens going 9-furlongs include #2 Hometown (9-2), who flattened out to finish fifth in his debut over 6-furlongs at Churchill last month, from which race the winner and third-place finisher both won next time out. Son of excellent young sire Constitution is a half-brother to Dancing Rags, who won with Alcibiades (G1) and trainer Brisset wins with 22% of his second time starters and with 22% going a route for the first time. $170K weanling purchase can be in good position throughout under Saez, who has won with one of his last four rides for the barn.

Race 9

#3 Gidu (6-1) set fast early fractions before being passed late when fifth in the Canadian Turf (G3) over one mile at Gulfstream in his latest in February. Trainer Pletcher wins with 30% of his runners that have not raced for 90+ days and has won with 35% of his starters so far at this meet. Son of Frankel figures to be the one to catch with Saez in the saddle.

Race 10

Some well-bred maidens include #9 Zero to Sixty (8-1), a debuting daughter of American Pharoah, who is out of Cat Moves, winner of the Prioress (G1). Chestnut cost $325K as a yearling and works include a sharp 3-furlong move in :35 1/5 from the gate for Al Stall, who wins with 21% of his first-time starters. Filly is likely ready for a good first outing with Lezcano riding.

Indiana Grand

Race 7

Trainer Gorder wins with 19% of his runners that have not raced for 90+ days and saddles #9 Miss Imperfection (8-1), who makes her turf debut off a win on the all-weather surface at Turfway last December. Filly should take to the surface being by 16% grass sire Majesticperfection and has been working well for Gorder, who has won with two of his seven runners this year. 3-year-old should find a decent pace to stalk with Albarado up.

Canterbury Park

Race 2

#3 Dried Pepper (6-1) debuts for trainer Silva, who won with four of his last 16 first-time starters. Gelding has a speedy pedigree and works include a 3-furlong move in :35 4/5 from the gate for Silva, who wins with 21% of his runners on turf. Dark bay can win at first asking with Garcia in the irons.
