Holland's North American free racing picks for Nov. 28

Tim Holland offers his picks across North America racing tracks including Aqueduct, Tampa Bay Downs, Del Mar, and the Stars of Tomorrow II program at Churchill Downs.

Churchill Downs

Race 9

#6 Clairiere (6-1) impressed when rallying from off the pace to win her debut over the track and distance last month. Daughter of Curlin is out of Cavorting, who won the Ogden Phipps (G1), and trainer Asmussen wins with 21% of his runners that broke their maiden last time out. Filly can be along from off the pace with Santana retaining the mount.

Aqueduct

Race 10

Chad Brown wins with 27% of his runners that have not raced for 46-90 days and sends out #1 Eliade (9-2), who closed to win her latest over 12 furlongs at Keeneland in early October. Daughter of Teofilo finished fourth in the Prix de Royaumont (G3) last year before winning one of her four starts for Brown, who wins with 28% of his starters that won last time out. Bay can be along late under Jose Ortiz, who has won with 28% of his rides for the barn in the past 60 days.

Tampa Bay Downs

Race 8

Fillies and mares on turf include #8 Global Brand (5-1), an improving daughter of War Front who is out of Gamely (G1) winner Marketing Mix. Dark bay finished well when second at this distance in her latest at Delaware early last month for trainer Proctor, who wins with 18% of his runners that have not raced for 46-90 day. 3-year-old has won one of seven career starts and can be closing with Castanon in the saddle.

Del Mar

Race 5

A competitive field for the Jimmy Durante (G3) includes #10 Bay Storm (5-1), who rallied from just off the pace when breaking her maiden over 6 furlongs at Belmont last month in her second outing. Daughter of Kantharos cost $400K earlier this year and posted a sharp 4-furlong work in :48 since her last outing for trainer Thomas, who wins with 26% of his runners in graded stakes. Dark bay figures to be on or near the early lead with Rosario taking the mount.

Race 9

#8 Domestic Spending (5-1) has not been seen since winning the Saratoga Derby Invitational in mid-August and has won three of his four career outings. Trainer Brown wins with 29% of his runners that have not raced for 90+ days, and son of excellent European sire Kingman is out of a half-sister to the dam of Queen’s Trust, who won the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1). Gelding has a powerful late kick and can be along from off the pace with Irad Ortiz remaining aboard.
