Filly is bred to be fast being by promising young sire Speightster and out of a mare by Peace Rules, and trainer Montoya wins with 13% of her maiden claimers. Half-sister to four winners may show more here with Pennington taking the mount.

Mahoning Valley

Race 6

#1 Direct Deceit (6-1) weakened late to finish fourth after leading from the start in a small stakes in his latest over one mile and 70 yards here late last month. Gelding has a record of 13-3-3-1 on this oval, and trainer Lauer wins with 11% of his runners in allowance events. Gray figures to be the one to catch breaking from the rail with Pilares remaining aboard.

Race 3

Trainer Landry wins with 20% of his first-time starters and saddles #6 Laughing Latinos (5-1), a debuting son of new sire Awesome Bet, who is out of mare by 15% first-out sire Distorted Humor. Works include a bullet 4-furlong move from the gate in :48 3/5 recently, and Landry wins with 28% of his runners overall in maiden special weight events. Bay is likely ready for a good first outing under Thornton, who has won with one of his last three rides for the barn.

Zia Park

Race 8

Maidens going 6 furlongs include #8 Value N Faith (8-1), who faded to finish unplaced in his debut over the track and distance in mid-October. Son of Abstraction is a half-brother to three winners and has worked well since his first outing for trainer Marr, who wins with 18% of his second-time starters. Dark bay can be in the early mix under Fuentes, who has won with two of his last 14 mounts for Marr.
