Holland's North American Racing Picks for May 27

Tampa Bay Downs

Race 2

Trainer Granitz wins with 22% of his runners going from a sprint to a route and saddles #7 Sunset Empire (2-1), who comes off a fifth-place finish in an even effort over 6 furlongs earlier this month. Daughter of Kantharos won one of two previous starts at this distance and Granitz has won with 20% of his runners at this meet. Bay can be in good position from the start under Gallardo, who has won with 18% of his rides for the barn in the past 60 days.

Race 4

#2 Hay Hay My My (5-2) is still a maiden after 14 tries but finished second on one previous start on this main track and comes off a second-place finish on grass earlier this month. Trainer Bowersock wins with 13% of her runners making this surface change and son of Turbo Compressor is a half-brother to one winner. Gelding can be in good position throughout with Allen retaining the mount.

Race 7

Plenty of early pace could set-up well for #6 Blue Sky Kowboy (4-1), who likely needed his latest when unplaced on the main track this month, being his first outing since last November. Chestnut has a record of 16-4-6-1 on turf and trainer Boyce wins with 16% of her runners second time off a layoff. 6-year-old can be along in time with Lopez remaining aboard.

Race 9

A competitive group going one mile on turf includes #9 Completed (4-1), who debuts for trainer Thomas. Daughter of 12% grass sire Verrazano is half-sister to Separationofpowers, who won the Test (G1). Dark bay cost $750K and has been working forwardly for Thomas, who wins with 15% of his first-time starters and who has won with 33% of his runners at this meet. Filly may be ready to win at first asking under Centeno, who has won with eight of his last 16 rides for this stable.

Assiniboia Downs

Race 4

Trainer Gaskin won with two of his last 16 first-time starters and saddles #3 Where’s the Reward (12-1), a debuting son of 12% first out sire Warrior’s Reward who is a half-brother to three winners. Gelding has been working forwardly for Gaskin, who wins with 26% of his runners overall in maiden special weight events. Dark bay appears ready for a good first outing with Mangalee up.

Race 5

#5 Striders Ring (3-1) has not been seen since fading to finish unplaced on the all-weather surface at Woodbine in December but has won one of seven starts on regular dirt. Dark bay finished second in the Alberta Derby last year and recent works include a sharp 5-furlong move in :59 for trainer Rycroft, who wins with 22% of his runners that have not raced for 90 days or more. Gelding can be in good position from the start with Sarmiento riding.

Fonner Park

Race 2

#6 Radicator (12-1) was impressive when rallying from off the pace after being bothered at the start when breaking his maiden by more than four lengths at this distance in his first try on this oval. Facing winners for the first time is never easy, but trainer Lemburg has won with 17% of his runners at this meet and Martinez remains aboard. Gray has shown early speed in most of his outings and can be forwardly placed from the start.

Race 6

Claimers going 6 furlongs include #1 Judge on the Run (7-2), who rallied from just off the pace to win her latest over the track and distance in her first start since being claimed by Shelby Sola. Dark bay has a record of 12-3-2-1 on this oval and Sola has won with three of her 12 runners at this meet. Mare can be in good position throughout with Olesiak again in the saddle.
