Holland's North American Racing Plays for Nov. 25
Tim Holland offers his North American racing picks for Churchill Downs and Tampa Bay Downs.
Churchill Downs
Race 4
Mike Maker wins with 17% of his runners that have not raced for 46-90 days and saddles #4 Strong Odor (5-1), who has not raced since closing after a slow start when sixth facing better here in May in her second outing. Daughter of Strong Mandate has been working well for Maker, who wins with 24% of his runners dropping two classes. Gray can be along from off the pace under Geroux, who has won with 31% of his rides for the barn in the past two months.
Race 8
A competitive allowance over one mile includes #7 Fighting Seabee (8-1), who showed little when unplaced from a wide post in the Bryan Station S. on turf at Keeneland in his latest in his second start after a long break. Trainer McPeek wins with 19% of his runners making this surface change and son of Summer Front finished second in the Street Sense S. last year in his one previous start over the track and distance. Bay should find a solid pace to close into with Hernandez retaining the mount.
Tampa Bay Downs
Race 2
#7 R Averie Lynn (7-2) faded to finish unplaced after chasing the early leaders in her debut over 6 furlongs at Gulfstream Park West last month. Daughter of Gone Astray is trained by Gerald Bennett, who wins with 13% of his second-time starters and who has won with 19% of his runners since the beginning of this year. Filly can show more here under Alvarado, who has won with two of his last 14 rides for the barn.
Race 8
Trainer Arnett has won with 21% of his runners this year and saddles #6 Carouse (9-2), who has not raced since weakening to finish fourth over one mile and 70 yards at Prairie Meadows in mid-September. Arnett wins with 12% of his runners that have not raced for 46-90 days and son of Curlin can be running into what should be a solid pace with Centeno taking the mount.
