Churchill Downs
Race 7
Steve Asmussen wins with 21% of his second-time starters and saddles #9 Happy Success (6-1), who showed little when unplaced in her debut over 6 furlongs here late last month. Daughter of Bernardini is a half-sister to Brilliant Speed, who won the Blue Grass (G1), and Asmussen has won with 22% of his runners at this meet. Filly is likely to show big improvement with Santana retaining the mount.
Race 11
#5 Wild Behaviour (8-1) has not raced since fading to finish unplaced after being rank early over 5 1/2 furlongs at Indiana in early August. Son of Into Mischief is out of a full-sister to Remsen (G2) winner Rockport Harbor, and trainer Wilkes wins with 16% of his runners that have not raced for 90+ days. Gelding has been working well and can be forwardly placed early with Landeros riding.
Carryover Alert: Jackpot Pick-6 of $179,980.66
Fair Grounds
Race 8
A competitive field for the Thanksgiving Classic includes #6 Landeskog (4-1), who weakened to finish sixth as the favorite after chasing the early leader in the Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash (G3) at this distance at Pimlico in his latest in early October. Son of Munnings has won three of his seven career outings and makes his third start for trainer Cox, who wins with 23% of his runners that have not raced for 46-90 days. Chestnut should get a good trip from just off the pace with Hernandez riding.
Race 9
Tom Proctor wins with 17% of his runners going from dirt to turf and saddles #3 By the Book (20-1), who closed to finish third over one mile on the main track at Laurel late last month. Filly failed to hit the board in one previous start on grass but should be suited to the surface being by Ghostzapper and out of Closeout, who won the Pucker Up (G3) on turf. Proctor has won with 17% of his runners this year and filly can be along late with Pedroza up.
Del Mar
Race 6
#8 Blame Debbie (3-1) was game when winning the Dowager (G3) after setting moderate fractions over 12 furlongs in her latest at Keeneland last month. Improving daughter of Blame has won three of 10 career starts for trainer Motion, who wins with 15% of his runners that won last time out and with 13% of his starters in graded stakes. Bay can be in good position throughout with Franco making the trip to retain the mount.
Carryover Alert: Jackpot Pick-6 of $120,249.00, Super High Five of $28,658.92
