How to bet Aqueduct's $729,612 Pick 6 carryover

December 4th, 2021

Did you know Aqueduct’s $1 Pick 6 has gone unsolved for three straight racing days? It’s no wonder why there’s a spectacular $729,612 non-jackpot Pick 6 carryover up for grabs during Saturday’s card.

Other non-jackpot carryovers on the agenda for Saturday include:

All of these prize pools are worth pursuing, but since triple carryovers like the one at Aqueduct aren’t an everyday occurrence, let’s take a race-by-race look at Aqueduct’s stakes-packed Pick 6 sequence and assemble a ticket on a $120 budget:

Race 5: Maiden Special Weight (1 1/16 miles on turf)

A competitive two-turn turf test for juvenile fillies kicks off the Pick 6. #5 Hard Place (7-2) ran second over this class and distance at Belmont last month, but she’s not necessarily a standout—#6 Rosebug (3-1) and #2 Etheric also have solid claims, while the first-time starters #3 Marketsegmentation (5-1) and #8 Empress At War (8-1) look live for hot trainers Chad Brown and Shug McGaughey, respectively. We’ll use all five.

Race 6: Maiden Special Weight (six furlongs on turf)

#5 Carpe’s Dream (4-1) and #6 Urban Forest (5-2) were separated by a nose when finishing second and third over this course, distance, and class level last month. They’re logical contenders to win on Saturday, but don’t dismiss the first-time starter #2 Fiery Heart (3-1), since trainer Todd Pletcher has gone 3-for-9 (33%) debuting juveniles over the Aqueduct turf since 2020.

Race 7: Go for Wand H. (G3, one mile)

#2 Lady Rocket (8-5) has been in strong form for high-percentage trainer Brad Cox, most recently posting a determined victory in a division of the Pumpkin Pie S. at Belmont. But Lady Rocket has never run farther than seven furlongs, so if the longer trip of the Go for Wand proves problematic, Turnback the Alarm H. (G3) runner-up #4 So Darn Hot (10-1) has upset potential.

Race 8: Remsen S. (G2, 1 1/8 miles)

#1 Mo Donegal (8-5) has the pedigree to handle 1 1/8 miles and enters off a stretch-running maiden win over 1 1/16 miles at Belmont Park. He’ll be tough to hold off under hot jockey Irad Ortiz (a 28% winner this meet), though debut winner #7 Zandon (5-2) is also worth including.

Race 9: Demoiselle S. (G2, 1 1/8 miles)

#5 Nest (2-1) closed a ton of ground to finish third in the one-mile Tempted S. at Belmont last month, beaten less than a length. A full sister to Santa Anita H. (G1) winner Idol, Nest is bred to thrive racing 1 1/8 miles and should step forward in her two-turn debut for hot trainer Todd Pletcher. We’ll use Nest as a single.

Race 10: Cigar Mile H. (G1, one mile)

#1 Following Sea (5-1) exits a close third in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1), but is largely unproven running long. #6 Ginobili (7-2) finished second in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1), but has done his best work at Del Mar. We’ll try to beat them both with runaway Fayette S. (G2) winner #5 Independence Hall (7-2) and the rapidly improving Empire Classic H. winner #3 Americanrevolution (5-2).

$1 Pick 6: 2,3,5,6,8 with 2,5,6 with 2,4 with 1,7 with 5 with 3,5 ($120)

Good luck!
