How to bet Monomoy Girl in her return

May 14th, 2020

The 4th race at Churchill Downs on Saturday is an allowance event for fillies and mares. And what makes the race so significant is the return of champion Monomoy Girl. I am of the belief that the brilliant daughter of Tapizar will be untouchable in her comeback, so finding value will have to come in the form of the vertical exotics.

Allowance Contenders

#1 MISS BIGLY (15-1) -- Gemologist filly draws the rail for her debut for Lovell. Bay has won two races in succession, and she is 4-for-5 lifetime on the main surface overall. Brian Hernandez Jr. will guide the 4-year-old.

#2 MONOMOY GIRL (4-5) -- Classy champion is unraced since 2018 but is working like a mare ready to deliver in her 2020 bow. Brad Cox pupil is a three-time heroine at Churchill and will be in the hunt from the break with regular pilot Geroux.

#3 FASHION FAUX PAS (10-1) -- Multiple stakes queen will make her first appearance at age 4 for Delacour. Flatter filly went off form at the conclusion of her sophomore campaign, but she has some class to her and will also be in the mix from the early stages on Saturday. Manny Franco has the call.

#4 RED DANE (15-1) -- Red Rocks mare has hit the board in just two of her last nine for Lopresti, while boasting a 5-0-0-0 line beneath the Twin Spires. Longshot would need a lifetime best to make the frame in this cast.

#5 ESTILO FEMENINO (15-1) -- Midnight Lute 5-year-old stretches out after a slew of sprint offerings for Asmussen. Kentucky-bred lands in a field with substantial pace, and she could fill out some exotics from off the early tempo under Talamo.

#6 TALK VEUVE TO ME (7-2) -- Talented speedster makes her initial try for Asmussen after being acquired for $1.3 million in November. Grade 1-placed daughter of Violence was runner-up to the favorite in the 2018 Acorn (G1), and her best will see her finish in the top three on Saturday.

#7 LADY KATE (7-2) -- Kenneally pupil was a winner in her first pair of outings prior to a fifth-place result in the Hurricane Bertie (G3) at Gulfstream Park most recently. Bay is a dual winner at the trip and gets a great draw in the outer post for this affair. Jose Ortiz riding adds to the appeal.
