How to Bet the 2019 Chandelier Stakes

September 26th, 2019

A compact field of six juvenile fillies will vie in Friday’s $300,000 Chandelier Stakes (G1) at Santa Anita. The “Win & You’re In” affair gives the first-place finisher a direct berth into the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) at The Great Race Place on November 1.

ANALYSIS

Comical (#3) (8-1) missed the break last time out but had flashed big early foot in the past. She could lead the crew into the first turn with Buyer’s Remorse (#5) (12-1), Leucothea (#6) (5-1) and Bast (#4) (3-5) all in close range.

Been Studying Her (#1) (9-2) and K P Dreamin (#2) (6-1) will likely trail, but they each own tactical speed and will not be that far behind on the backside.

WAGERS

$20 Exacta 4 with 2,5 = $40
$10 Tri Key 4 with 2,5 = $20

Here is the field:

BEEN STUDYING HER (#1) (9-2)Unbeaten daughter of Fast Anna has rallied to victories in both lifetime assignments, including a score in the Generous Portion Stakes at Del Mar most recently. California-bred lass has put in four solid drills in preparation of her route debut and could be an exotics contender from the rail. Mike Smith will be in the controls.

K P DREAMIN (#2) (6-1) – Jeff Mullins trainee graduated going one-mile and should benefit from having a route run under her belt. The interesting prospect could be moving best of all in the stretch while making her stakes debut. Ruben Fuentes will be in the stirrups.

COMICAL (#3) (8-1) – Schuylerville Stakes (G3) queen closed belatedly to finish a distant third in the Del Mar Debutante (G1) in advance of this assignment. Daughter of Into Mischief is bred to run long and intrigues making her route debut in this affair. Abel Cedillo picks up the mount atop the valuable filly.

BAST (#4) (3-5) – $500,000 Uncle Mo filly broke her maiden in style with a powerhouse tally in the Del Mar Debutante (G1) for Bob Baffert. The heavy favorite responded to the addition of blinkers in her latest and could move forward in her initial try going two turns. January foal appears to be a towering presence in the field with John Velazquez inheriting the mount.

BUYER’S REMORSE (#5) (12-1) – Second timer ran a winning race in defeat on debut when six lengths clear of her nearest foe at Del Mar. Doug O’Neill trainee shows a trio of solid morning drills in the interim, and the bay should enjoy getting added distance in her local bow. Florida-bred has intrigue at a price with Mario Gutierrez signed on for the ride.

LEUCOTHEA (#6) (5-1) – Peter Miller pupil looked the part with a 14-length maiden stroll two prior with the addition of blinkers, but she returned to finished 29 lengths back after showing early speed in the Del Mar Debutante (G1). Inconsistent lass draws well while outside of the field, and the Midshipman filly will be a factor if she repeats her maiden-breaking performance.
