How to bet the 2022 Lady Erie Stakes
A total of 10 sophomore fillies will travel six panels on the all-weather surface at Presque Isle Downs in Monday’s $100,000 Lady Erie S. There is a slew of early speed signed on for the dash which will set things up for a late runner to make good in the final furlong.
The Brendan Walsh-trained #7 Majestic d’Oro (9-2) was a smashing allowance heroine at Turfway Park in her latest run on the synthetic, and I think that she will be moving best of all late on this occasion. Speightster lass showed her versatility last time out with a fine score in the Alywow S. on the Woodbine green, and she put in a swift half-mile morning move at Churchill Downs in the interim.
Majestic d’Oro has been a much improved racehorse since adding blinkers five back and is in the best form of her career at this stage of her development. Rafael Hernandez will sit well off the early tempo prior to asking the chestnut miss for her best turning for home.
#3 Loyalty (5-2), also last seen at Woodbine, is 2-for-2 on the all-weather and will be formidable with her best. The lightly raced daughter of Hard Spun has good gate presence with a nifty turn of foot, and the Florida-bred should be fit following a trio of useful morning works in preparation for the tilt. It’s a positive sign to see Luis Contreras come in to retain the mount.
#4 You Look Cold (6-1) put in a good prep for Monday when a clear second in the stakes ranks last out. The black-type winner has performed well in both local assignments to date, and the dark bay daughter of Frosted also has the right running style to capitalize on the expected contested early pace, as well. Reylu Gutierrez riding adds to her appeal at a fair price.
