How to bet the 2022 Pebbles Stakes
An overflow field of 13 three-year-old fillies will vie in Sunday’s $150,000 Pebbles S. (G3) at Aqueduct. The one-mile turf affair is a fantastic betting event with legitimate contenders throughout the field. I can’t settle for a small price in the contest and will center the majority of my plays around a few horses that hold great value.
Doreen Tabor’s #1 Majestic Glory (8-1) is my slight top selection for conditioner Todd Pletcher. By the mighty Frankel, the sophomore miss will make her U.S. debut against this cast and got a nice slot on the rail to save ground throughout the eight-furlong tussle.
The Group 3-winning British-bred bay has posted some good results overseas, including a third this campaign in the Fred Darling S. (G3) at Newbury behind the classy Wild Beauty, and she has shown ample tactical speed in the past, too. Expensive filly smoked a bullet half-mile on the Oklahoma turf most recently and will have John Velazquez in the controls.
#6 Lia Marina (15-1), one of two in the affair for conditioner Christophe Clement, has been seen just once in 2022 and endured a wide trip from a tough post when an even fifth in the Herecomesthebride S. (G3). By Uncle Mo, the Moyglare Stud homebred capped her juvenile campaign with a nice victory in the Wait A While S. at Gulfstream Park and clearly has substantial ability.
The dark bay has been training in consistent fashion in advance of Sunday, and I expect her to be ready to roll at a big price against this group. Dylan Davis will guide the contender.
Euro import #9 Miss Carol Ann (10-1) is another horse that I will dabble with in the wide-open event. Now in the hands of Graham Motion, the daughter of Kingman has lacked consistency following a sharp debut win last season, but the change of scenery might be a good thing for the Irish-bred. Jose Ortiz takes the reins and will have the intriguing sort rallying from off the pace at a nice number.
