How to bet the 2023 Busher Invitational Stakes
A total of six three-year-old fillies will travel one-mile on the Aqueduct dirt in Saturday’s $200,000 Busher S.
#6 Asset Purchase, one of two in the affair for conditioner Chad Brown, looked the part in her dominant debut win in a 6 1/2-furlong dash on the oval on January 29. Sent postward at 3-1 odds, the daughter of Dialed In made a huge move into the lane and was geared down late while registering an eight-length score.
The dark bay gave the impression of a filly who will appreciate more ground to work with in the future, so the move to the one-turn mile seems perfect for her second lifetime assignment. Purchased for $75,000 as a yearling, the Klaravich color bearer shows a trio of solid half-mile morning moves in preparation for her stakes bow and will have clear sailing throughout from the outside post slot. Manny Franco stays in the silks.
I will use a pair of fillies underneath the top pick for the vertical exotics, including Juddmonte homebred #2 Capella. Trained by Brad Cox, the well-related daughter of Quality Road aced both of her assignments on the All-Weather at Turfway Park while running a mile in each, and I expect her to handle the transition to the dirt with relative ease in the affair.
Capella has very good early foot and will always be in the hunt of the contest. Florent Geroux picks up the mount.
#3 Zierati was awesome in her first go when leading at every call in a runaway victory, earning a robust 99 Brisnet Speed figure in the process. The bay daughter of Into Mischief will obviously face tougher on this day, but if she repeats her debut showing, then she will be difficult to upend.
Trevor McCarthy picks up what might be a very live mount, and he will be putting her on the front end soon after the start.
