How to bet the 2023 King Glorious Stakes

December 16th, 2023

A total of eight California-bred juveniles will travel one mile on the Los Alamitos oval in Sunday’s $100,000 King Glorious S. The finale of the day and meeting features a well-matched cast in what appears to be an appealing betting endeavor.

King Glorious Wagers

  • $12 win and place #6 Clever Clover ($24)
  • $1 trifecta 4,6 with 2,4,6 with all ($24)

#6 Clever Clover (10-1) has displayed both versatility and a nice amount of ability from a trio of sprint runs on the all-weather strip at Golden Gate. I’m going to take the longshot, who makes his dirt and route debut in this contest. Trained by Victor Trujillo, the dark bay son of Rumpus Cat graduated when leading throughout two back. The gelding then rallied from the back of the pack to be a close third in an allowance tilt in his latest performance.

The March foal likely will benefit from dealing with some adversity most recently, and the price is worth giving him a play in a field lacking a standout. Regular pilot Epifanio Garcia will retain the mount atop the selection.

#4 Tom Seaver (3-1) was a sharp debut winner while sprinting on the lawn for conditioner Phil D’Amato and could be virtually any kind against this group. The gray son of Sir Prancealot was heavily backed in that first outing and has trained well on the dirt this campaign for a conditioner who gets good results when stretching horses out in distance. February foal broke slowly first time out, but the added ground will help in that department and Antonio Fresu will have the logical contender well placed approaching the turn for home.

#2 Gentleman’s Club (15-1) is not the best win candidate in the field but earned a hefty 101 Brisnet Late Pace figure in a sprint at Del Mar last time out, and the son of Clubhouse Ride might thrive going long for the initial time. Dark bay colt broke his maiden on this surface in his lone local appearance prior to Sunday, and I expect the February foal to save ground every step of the way with Diego Herrera taking the reins.
