The $125,000 Twin Bridges S. at Ellis Park on Sunday attracted a talented field of seven. Run at six furlongs on the main oval for fillies and mares, the dash is led by the consistently very good #7 Wicked Halo (1-1), one of two contenders in the cast for conditioner Steve Asmussen. The excellent daughter of Gun Runner concluded her sophomore season with a fine third in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) at Keeneland, and she has been sharp in her three assignments of 2023 in advance of Sunday.
Wicked Halo bagged the Matron S. at Oaklawn Park to commence her four-year-old campaign, and she registered runner-up performances in both the Derby City Distaff (G1) and Bed o’ Roses S. (G2) as of late. The Winchell homebred will be making her local debut from an ideal outside post slot, and the gray will be stalking the pace while in the clear throughout in the heat. Christian Torres will guide the sure horse to beat.

#6 Non Violence (8-1), one of two in the field for trainer Bret Calhoun, will make her stakes debut coming off of a fine allowance score over a muddy oval here last time out. The daughter of Violence has been a dominant figure in three of her four one-turn events to date, and the chestnut will give a fine account of herself in her initial black-type test against this crew. The Kentucky bred will track the pace from the second flight with Reylu Gutierrez taking the reins.

The Eddie Kenneally-trained #3 Last Leaf (3-1) captured the Audubon Oaks in her lone local run on the strip in August and rates as a dangerous top-three player from off the pace on Sunday. Not This Time four-year-old has not won in seven tries since that performance, but her last pair of outings have been solid, which includes a fine second-place finish in the Roxelana S. beneath the Twin Spires two back. The dark bay Kentucky-bred will be a factor with something resembling that showing with Corey Lanerie taking the reins.
