How to bet the 2023 Valley View Stakes

October 26th, 2023

An overflow field of 16 three-year-old fillies was entered for a mile on the Keeneland lawn in Friday’s $300,000 Valley View S. (G3). The well-matched cast features numerous live contenders in an affair that could yield some healthy payouts.

Valley View Wagers

#5 Eternal Silence (8-1) will make her first run over U.S. sod for conditioner Jessica Harrington, and I expect the import to give a good account of herself in the tilt. By War Front, the Moyglare Stud homebred didn’t fire in the Irish One Thousand Guineas (G1) to commence 2023 but has been in solid form in her last trio of assignments, which included a daylight victory at Naas two back. The bay got in a morning spin on the local lawn on Saturday and will have regular pilot Shane Foley in the silks.

Lake George (G3) queen #9 Surge Capacity (3-1) came home runner-up in the recent Lake Placid S. (G2) at Saratoga and has a lot of room for improvement for conditioner Chad Brown. The fourth-time starter impressed in her first pair of tallies and was game late in her latest endeavor to grab second under today’s pilot Joel Rosario. Dark bay daughter of Flintshire has tactical speed and will track the tempo from the second or third flight to the top of the lane.

West Coast invader #2 Pride of the Nile (8-1) is 3-for-4 on the lawn and defeated her elders in a deep allowance race at Del Mar most recently. Pioneerof the Nile sophomore has always hinted that she is a talented performer, and she could be set up for a big offering on Friday while making her local debut. The Kentucky-bred will save ground while always in striking range with Flavien Prat taking the reins.

Vicki Oliver’s #8 Bling (15-1) has won or placed in each of her five tries this campaign and offers a lot of value with Rafael Bejarano up. American Pharoah gray has displayed a fine turn of foot in a pair of turf dashes as of late, and she will appreciate the move to eight panels on this occasion. The versatile Kentucky-bred will be stalking the tempo from midpack before being asked for her best turning for home.
