How to bet the Bewitch Stakes

April 24th, 2025

The closing-day feature at Keeneland on Friday is the $350,000 Bewitch S. (G3), a 1 1/2-mile turf affair for fillies and mares. I feel the trio of morning-line choices will be the ones to settle things in the final furlong of the contest in a race that figures to be a ‘chalky’ one.

Bewitch Wagers

  • $25 win #2 Immensitude ($25)
  • $5 exacta key box 2 with 3,7 ($20)

Wathnan Racing’s #2 Immensitude (5-2) is a Group 3 heroine who is winless from seven attempts since arriving in the states, but the Bill Mott trainee has run well on numerous occasions against fine company and gets the slight nod today. The Lawman five-year-old has done well since stretching out to marathon voyages in her last trio of races, which includes a very good second to Beach Bomb in the Very One S. (G3) at Gulfstream Park in her latest venture. The dark bay mare will never be far behind a moderate early pace, with Flavien Prat inheriting the mount.

#3 Forever After All (9-5) finished a close second in the 2024 Dowager S. (G3) in her lone local turf appearance, and also eclipsed the La Prevoyante S. (G3) two back at Gulfstream Park, in her two tries at 12 furlongs in advance of Friday. Conditioned by the red hot Brendan Walsh, the consistently good late runner was only 1 3/4 lengths back in the Very One in her last showing, and her best effort will give her every chance in the closing stages of the event with Irad Ortiz, Jr. picking up the ride.

#7 Eternal Silence (4-1), one of two in the cast for trainer Christophe Clement, made a big middle move in the Hillsborough S. (G2) at Tampa Bay Downs in her seasonal bow and will benefit from having a start under her belt in advance of Friday. The Moyglare Stud homebred is a question mark at the distance in her initial run at 1 1/2 miles, but she has plenty of talent, and the Group-1 placed daughter of War Front could be any kind at the distance. With Joel Rosario in the stirrups, the bay may be put among the leaders in the early going in a race with little pace.
