How to bet the Chilukki Stakes at Churchill Downs

A field of seven fillies and mares will vie in Saturday’s $200,000 Chilukki S. (G3) at Churchill Downs. The competitive cast will go one turn on the main oval, and I think that the favorites will be tough to knock off in the Saturday feature.

#2 Mylady Curlin (5-2) and #5 Divine Queen (3-1) will control the race from the start, and I think that the duo will race in tandem all the way to the wire. The pace will not be especially fast for this kind of affair.

#1 SALLY’S CURLIN (4-1) -- Peaking Romans trainee comes off a daylight allowance win on the oval when posting a hefty 103 BRIS Speed figure. Curlin sophomore has won three-of-four in succession and draws inside as a major contender in the field. Corey Lanerie has the assignment.

#2 MYLADY CURLIN (5-2) -- Four-year-old daughter of Curlin had a five-race win streak snapped last time when a good third in the Locust Grove (G3) on this course. Kentucky-bred was a fine Grade 3 winner at Pimlico in May, and her best will make her tough to deny with Shaun Bridgmohan in the controls.

#3 STILL THERE (6-1) -- Grade 1-placed stakes winner makes her first run since May and only her second in 2019 for Kobiskie. Lightly raced Union Rags mare is training forwardly as of late and will stalk the early pace with Jon Court riding.

#4 SHE’S PRETTY LUCKY (20-1) -- Kenneally pupil was beaten by 14 lengths most recently at Keeneland, but she is three-for-five at Churchill Downs and will improve second off the bench. Lookin at Lucky four-year-old will need a form reversal to challenge the field late beneath Declan Cannon, however.

#5 DIVINE QUEEN (3-1) -- Surging filly from the Bradley barn has won two of her last three, including a fine tally in the Open Mind S. on the strip. Divine Park lass is four-for-five at Churchill Downs and has upped her game since flashing early speed in her last three. Calvin Borel will guide the prime win candidate.

#6 CHOCOLATE MARTINI (4-1) -- Grade 2 victress makes her first appearance since running in the La Troienne S. (G1) on this surface in the spring. Tom Amoss charge owns just a single score in her last eight outings, and the one-run closer will need some pace help to be a threat in the lane. James Graham will be in the stirrups.

#7 CAIRENN (5-1) -- Graham Motion trainee draws outside coming off a triumph at Colonial Downs most recently. Five-year-old daughter of First Dude comes in fresh and will aim to run them down from off the pace under Miguel Mena.
