How to bet the Jenny Wiley Stakes

July 10th, 2020

A superb cast of eight fillies and mares will travel 1 1/16 miles on the Keeneland turf in Saturday’s $350,000 Jenny Wiley (G1).

Jenny Wiley Analysis

The early pace of the Jenny Wiley will be honest, with swift contenders #2 Juliet Foxtrot, #4 Rushing Fall, and #6 Jolie Olimpica, all sure to be forwardly placed from the start.

Jenny Wiley Contenders

#1 SECRET MESSAGE (15-1) -- Motion pupil got up late to upset the Mint Julep (G3) at Churchill Downs in her 5-year-old debut. Grade 2 heroine has gone unplaced in her previous three tries at the highest level, and she will need a lifetime best to be in the mix late under John Velazquez.

#2 JULIET FOXTROT (8-1) -- Juddmonte homebred was second-best in the First Lady (G1) on the course in the fall in her most recent local offering. Dansili mare has every right to improve in her second start of the season, and her early speed makes her dangerous under Luis Saez.

#3 LA SIGNARE (30-1) -- Bay mare has paired up big races leading up to the Jenny Wiley. The 5-year-old has a strong turn of foot, but she will still need better to take this field down inside the final furlong on Saturday. Ricardo Santana Jr. will be in the stirrups.

#4 RUSHING FALL (6-5) -- Defending champ is something of a course specialist at Keeneland, with a 4-for-5 mark including Grade 1 tallies in her last two appearances in Lexington. More Than Ready mare kicked off 2020 with a facile win in the Beaugay (G3) at Belmont, and she is an obvious win contender for Chad Brown. Regular pilot Castellano will be up.

#5 MUCHO UNUSUAL (8-1) -- California import has gone close at the Grade 1 level in two of her last three races for Tim Yakteen. Grade 2 victress is a mystery making her first run on the course, but she could be dangerous late if she takes to the local lawn under Leparoux.

#6 JOLIE OLIMPICA (5-2) -- Top pick has been very impressive in each of her three starts since coming to the U. S. Mandella trainee dons a superb 6-5-1-0 lifetime line, and the Group 1 queen comes off a fantastic tally in the Monrovia (G2) at Santa Anita. Lightly raced chestnut will force the pace before taking the lead in the stretch under Mike Smith.

#7 ALTEA (12-1) -- Second from the Brown barn has put in a solid late run in each of her three 2020 races in preparation of her initial Grade 1 attempt. French-bred shows just two wins while amassing 11 placings, though, and she is best used for the exotics with Rosario taking the reins.

#8 TOINETTE (5-1) -- Win contender from the Drysdale shedrow shows an 8-for-11 mark on turf and enters off of a dominant tally in the Wilshire (G3). Grade 2 vixen was a winner in a lone local appearance at Keeneland, and her best effort will give her a huge chance late with regular rider Prat coming along for the voyage.
