How to bet the Smart Halo Stakes
A trio of black-type events will be hosted by Laurel Park on Saturday, including the $100,000 Smart Halo S. The six-furlong dash on the dirt for juvenile fillies attracted a field of seven, with six of the entrants coming off of top-two performances in their most recent offering.

I feel that the trio of runners drawn outside in the affair will be dueling late for the win. #7 Oliviera romped home an 11-length debut victress at Colonial Downs on August 23, and she proved that the effort was not a fluke as she came back to be a fine runner-up to a subsequent stakes heroine in a Churchill Downs allowance heat in her second run. Trained by Phil Schoenthal, the Mo Town filly received a bit of a breather following that effort and shows some solid morning moves in the interim. The April foal figures to get a very good trip while always in the clear beneath repeat rider Angel Rodriguez.
Two-time stakes heroine #6 Caprice was a dominant winner in each of her initial trio of starts to begin her career, prior to finishing a distant second in her route debut at Delaware Park most recently. The Cathal Lynch trainee was very good in her lone performance at six panels to date, and the Golden Lad two-year-old has the speed to stay in touch in the early going of the dash, as well. I envision the filly stalking the tempo from third early on prior to making her move approaching the turn for home. Jaime Rodriguez will be in the stirrups.
#5 Beyond Belief dueled through fast splits in her first appearance at Parx and held on late when registering a solid 85 Brisnet Speed number. The chestnut daughter of Goldencents put in a nice five-eighths leading up to her stakes bow, and I think that she can move forward for Edward Coletti, Jr. Eliseo Ruiz will guide the win threat who will be pressing the pace soon after the break.
