How to bet the Soaring Softly Stakes May 15

May 13th, 2021

A cast of 11 three-year-old fillies will run seven-eighths on the Belmont outer turf course in Saturday’s $100,000 Soaring Softly S. (G3). The good betting race has attracted a lot of intriguing prospects from top barns in a grassy affair that lacks a standout. Conditioner Christophe Clement has two entered for the feature, and I think that both of his trainees have a chance in the deep field.

Soaring Softly Wagers

  • 50-cent trifecta 5,11 with 5,6,9,11 with all ($27)
  • $2 exacta box 5,6,9,11 ($24)

Soaring Softly Analysis

#5 Hit the Woah gave a nice account of herself in her initial try on the sod at Gulfstream Park when a closing third in the Sanibel Island S. Dark bay daughter of Vancouver is bred to thrive on the green, and she has every right to improve in her second spin on the surface. Junior Alvarado will ride the tactical sophomore, who will track from near midpack in the early stages of this test.

#11 Bye Bye aced her turf debut when drawing off in a five-furlong sprint on the Gulfstream turf. The daughter of top sire Into Mischief comes in fresh, and judging by her latest venture, the filly will appreciate the additional distance on Saturday. Eric Cancel will guide the bay from the widest post slot and have her stalk the tempo.

Among the numerous other contenders in the field is sharp first-out graduate #9 Star Devine. The Jorge Abreu pupil broke slowest in her unveiling at Aqueduct, but she made up for her tardy break with a flying finish at six furlongs to win going away. Expensive daughter of Fastnet Rock could be any kind going forward.

Two-time stakes heroine #6 Tobys Heart might be the one to beat for Brian Lynch. The Jack Milton filly is 3-for-4 lifetime, although she did fail to hit the board in her lone try beyond 5 1/2 furlongs. With that said, the dark bay is a must-use in the gimmicks due to her obvious ability and versatility.
