May 7th, 2020

Classic winner War of Will headlines an excellent field of 12 in Saturday’s $75,000 Sunshine Forever S. at Gulfstream Park.

Sunshine Forever Analysis

#3 El Tormenta is the inside pace of the race. The Grade 1 winner will be tracked by stakes victor #6 Halladay, and Preakness (G1) star #12 War of Will through solid early fractions.

Sunshine Forever Contenders

#1 JUST WHISTLE -- Main-track only contender was a big second in the Hal’s Hope (G3) following the addition of blinkers most recently. 5-year-old would be a major contender if the race comes off the lawn.

#2 SAND DANCER -- Longshot is winless in eight previous races on the course and hasn’t earned a victory since June of 2018. Gelding will be running from off the pace at a big price beneath Meneses.

#3 EL TORMENTA -- Fleet son of Stormy Atlantic was used up early in the recent Appleton (G3) and removes the blinkers for this engagement. Woodbine Mile (G1) star will be in the mix from the break with Dylan Davis signed on.

#4 AQUAPHOBIA -- Maker trainee finished an even fourth in the Muniz Memorial (G2) at Fair Grounds most recently. Former claimer is a winner on the Gulfstream lawn, but he would be a surprise against a field of this quality. Irad will be in the stirrups.

#5 CULLUM ROAD -- Quality Road gelding was a neck second in the River City (G3) in his 2019 finale. Kentucky-bred bay makes his first start for new connections, and he rates a top-three chance with his best off the bench. Joe Bravo has the call.

#6 HALLADAY -- Gray son of War Front was impressive in an allowance romp on the local lawn most recently. Colt has never run a bad race, and he looms large with a favorable trip on Saturday beneath top gun Saez.

#7 HAWKISH -- Artie Schiller 5-year-old has run well on the surface, and off the layoff, as well. Toner pupil has a powerful turn of foot, and he drilled a bullet five panels to prepare for his return. Jaramillo will be in the irons atop the contender.

#8 REGALLY IRISH -- Motion trainee has defeated a total of one runner from his last trio of races combined. Regal Ransom gelding showed little in an allowance event on this grass last time out, and he is hard to back until he shows improved form.

#9 SOCIAL PARANOIA -- Street Boss colt was ultra-impressive in his last-to-first blitz in the Appleton (G3) in his 4-year-old bow at Gulfstream. Pletcher pupil shows three solid morning moves in the interim, and he will be the one to hold off in the stretch.

#10 HIGHLAND SKY -- Tagg charge does his best work running long on the turf and looks to be in a tough spot against this cast. Sky Mesa 7-year-old is likely using this as a prep run for a longer assignment down the road.

#11 ADMISSION OFFICE -- Point of Entry 5-year-old is due for a breakthrough in the stakes ranks following six black-type placings in his last nine outings. Brian Lynch trainee has been second in a pair of local Grade 2 contests, and his best will make him a major player on Saturday. Joel Rosario will be in the stirrups.

#12 WAR OF WILL -- Classic winner makes his first grassy endeavor since his juvenile campaign, and he might relish the return to turf racing. War Front colt flashed big potential on the green in the past, and he will carve out a good trip despite receiving the widest post draw on Saturday. Tyler Gaffalione will have the colt in the hunt from the break.
