How to bet the Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes

October 2nd, 2020

A berth in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) is on the line at Keeneland on Saturday. Seven fillies and mares will travel 6 panels on the dirt in the $200,000 Thoroughbred Club of America (G2), which is part of the “Win and You’re In” challenge series.

TCOA Analysis

#7 Lady’s Island is the swiftest horse in the cast and will seize the early lead despite breaking from the outside. #1 Sneaking Out will likely track from second, with #2 Dos Vinos and #5 Palace Avenger close up, as well.

TCOA Contenders

#1 SNEAKING OUT -- Surging daughter of Indian Express has reeled off a pair of graded stakes wins in succession on the West Coast for Hollendorfer. The California-bred 4-year-old has tactical speed combined with a potent late kick, and the filly will be tough to hold off in the stretch with her best showing. Rispoli retains the mount.

#2 DOS VINOS -- Consistently good Twirling Candy filly has won or placed in each lifetime try in advance of her graded stakes bow. Bret Calhoun pupil was an allowance heroine on the course most recently, and she comes in fresh with some solid morning drills as of late. Gray will challenge for a placing with a forward move on Saturday.

#3 ON PROBATION -- Neil Pessin trainee shows just one win from 13 starts dating back to 2019, and she will also be making her first dirt appearance in some time in the affair. Into Mischief mare is hard to back with confidence against this cast.

#4 DIVINE QUEEN -- Divine Park 5-year-old has not been a factor while missing the board in five straight assignments. The Bradley charge has yet to run well at Keeneland, and she would be a big surprise under Calvin Borel.

#5 PALACE AVENGER -- Wesley Ward pupil has three wins and a second since having the blinkers removed four prior. Sophomore filly is in very good current form and also possesses fine early foot, but she will need a lifetime best to challenge for the top prize on Saturday. Luis Saez has the call.

#6 INTHEMIDSTOFBIZ -- Recent stakes queen made good on the All-Weather at Presque Isle last time out for Contreras. Fed Biz filly has never been better while winning or placing in six straight overall, though she will need further improvement to upset this field in her graded stakes debut.

#7 LADY’S ISLAND -- The one to catch and likely beat will be in control in the early going for Gargan. Fleet daughter of Greatness was a sharp runner-up versus better in the Honorable Miss (G2) at Saratoga most recently, and a similar showing on Saturday will make her tough to run down in her first try over the surface. Tyler Gaffalione will guide the 16-time winner.
