The History of the Los Alamitos Derby

The Los Alamitos Derby is a Grade III race run annually at the Los Alamitos Race Course since 1964.

Initially run as the Swaps Stakes in honors of the 1955 Kentucky Derby Winner, the race was hosted at the now defunct Hollywood Park Racetrack up until its closure in 2013.

Past notable winners of the Los Alamitos Derby include American Champions West Coast (2017), Accelerate (2016), and Shared Belief (2014).
