Kentucky Oaks Roundup: Apr. 13, 2020

April 13th, 2020

Stay up to speed on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks with a weekly roundup of all the latest news and developments:

Changes on the Kentucky Oaks Leaderboard

The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted the postponement or cancellation of almost every major race and race meet during the month of April, so the Road to the Kentucky Oaks leaderboard remains unchanged from last week. On the bright side, training has continued uninterrupted at many tracks, so when facilities open back up for live racing, the horses will be ready.

Looking Ahead towards the Kentucky Oaks

It’s still possible racing could return to Santa Anita in the near future; a meeting to discuss the possibility is scheduled for Apr. 18. The resumption of racing would put the Santa Anita Oaks (G1) back on the table, but until then, the May 1 Fantasy (G3) at Oaklawn remains the only Road to the Kentucky Oaks prep race officially on the agenda.
