Changes on the Kentucky Oaks Leaderboard
Queen of God burst onto the Road to the Kentucky Oaks with her upset victory in the $150,000 Bourbonette Oaks at Turfway Park last Saturday. A former claimer who previously prevailed in the Mrs. Presidentress S. on turf at Gulfstream Park, Queen of God tenaciously held off a late charge from Pass the Plate to win by three-quarters of a length.
Trained by Mike Maker, Queen of God picked up 20 Road to the Kentucky Oaks qualification points, but she isn’t currently nominated to the Oaks and it’s unclear whether she’ll be supplemented to the race. More likely to target the Oaks is Pass the Plate, an established nominee who picked up 8 points to debut in 20th place on the leaderboard.

Looking Ahead on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks
One of the most productive Kentucky Oaks prep races will be contested on Saturday at Fair Grounds. The $400,000 Fair Grounds Oaks (G2) awards 100 qualification points to the winner and has produced seven Kentucky Oaks champions since 2004, including fan favorite and Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra.
Leading the charge in the 2020 Fair Grounds Oaks is Finite, who has already won three Road to the Kentucky Oaks prep races. Currently atop the leaderboard with 70 points, Finite will be expected to deliver another convincing victory on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Sunday’s $200,000 Sunland Park Oaks at Sunland Park has been canceled due to the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, leaving the Fair Grounds Oaks as the only Kentucky Oaks prep race on the agenda this weekend.
