Lady Eli reportedly suffering from laminitis

July 13th, 2015

Lady Eli, brilliant undefeated winner of the Belmont Oaks (G1) and Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1), has developed laminitis in her front feet, trainer Chad Brown reported Monday.

Brown revealed the filly stepped on a nail walking back from the test barn to his barn, injuring her left front foot, following her emphatic win in the July 4 Belmont Oaks.

“Thankfully, we have assembled the best possible team of veterinarians and farriers to stabilize her and assist her through these difficult times," Brown said. "I ask that all of her fans keep this magnificent racehorse in their prayers and hopefully she will be back on the racetrack flashing her brilliance again.”

Brown told Daily Racing Form that Lady Eli remains at Belmont Park and that her condition is stable and guarded.
