Los Alamitos: $160 tournament, $25,807 Pick 6 carryover
There are two great reasons to play the Sunday card at Los Alamitos: a tournament with cash prizes and a Pick 6 carryover with a mandatory payout.
$160 Oaklawn/Los Alamitos Feeder to 12/21 Gun Runner KDBC Qualifier tournament
Bet your $80 bankroll across at least eight races at Oaklawn Park and Los Alamitos to climb the leaderboard in this feeder to the Dec. 21 Gun Runner KDBC Qualifier tournament on TwinSpires. $25,807 Pick 6 mandatory payout
Pick 6 bets don’t count toward tournament play, but you’ll want to play the $2 wager just the same. There’s a $25,807 carryover up for grabs, and it’s slated for mandatory payout since Sunday is closing day of the Los Alamitos Thoroughbred meet.
Even if no one selects all six winners, the prize pool is guaranteed to pay out. Bettors who select the highest number of winners will split the carryover.
The Pick 6 starts in Race 4 at 4:59 p.m. ET.
R Heisman looks tough to beat in King Glorious
The final event on the Sunday card is Race 9, the $100,000 King Glorious S. for California-bred two-year-olds racing one mile on dirt. Nine horses have entered, and morning-line favorite #5 R Heisman (2-1) ought to have his rivals measured.
R Heisman has done well competing against California-breds. During the summer, he won the 5 1/2-furlong Graduation S., and last time out he rallied to finish second in the seven-furlong Golden State Juvenile S. The latter effort yielded a 94 Brisnet Speed rating, the highest number in the King Glorious field.
At one time or another, R Heisman has defeated many of the rivals he’ll face in the King Glorious. His pedigree suggests stretching out over one mile on dirt won’t be an issue, so Pick 6 bettors should strongly consider singling R Heisman to conclude their tickets.
Tournament bettors have a trickier task because deciding which horse(s) to use underneath R Heisman in exotic wagers isn’t easy. Since 2-1 isn’t a bad price on R Heisman given his credentials, a large win bet might be the safest and most straightforward strategy.
Good luck!
