Louisiana Downs: How to bet the $854 Super High 5 carryover
Care to chase Saturday’s $854 non-jackpot Super High 5 carryover at Louisiana Downs? You’ll be happy to hear winning a share is mathematically straightforward.
Many Super High 5 wagers come with a $1 minimum bet amount and feature large fields with thousands (maybe even tens of thousands) of possible outcomes. But Louisiana Downs’s Super High 5 carries a 50-cent minimum, and it’s up for grabs in Race 7, which features a six-horse field with only 720 possible outcomes.
Race 7 is a one-mile turf allowance, and from a Brisnet Speed rating perspective, #2 Beauregard (7-5) is an obvious standout. The four-year-old gelding has posted six straight Brisnet Speed ratings in the 80-88 range since transferring to the care of hot trainer David Gomez, who is winning at a 22% rate at Louisiana Downs this meet. In contrast, Beauregard’s rivals have been struggling (mostly without success) to surpass the 80 plateau.

Beauregard technically hasn’t cracked the superfecta in three starts on turf, but two of those efforts came in stakes, including a sixth-place finish after chasing a fast pace in the 1 1/16-mile Louisiana Cup Turf Classic S. two weeks ago. Dropping into the allowance ranks may produce a winning effort from Beauregard, who is slated to be ridden by hot jockey Carlos Lozada (a 26% winner this meet).
#3 War Count (2-1) is another key contender. The veteran gelding has thrown down eight straight Brisnet Speed ratings in the 70-81 range, including a 78 when wiring a recent $12,500 allowance optional claimer for Louisiana-breds racing 7 1/2 furlongs over the Louisiana Downs lawn. Jockey Jose Guerrero and trainer Shane Wilson have teamed up to win at a 25% rate over the last two months, so War Count definitely has hot connections in his corner.
While horses are the most important factor in handicapping any race, many bettors look toward jockey statistics to strengthen their opinions and separate top contenders.@J_Keelerman helps you understand rider stats 👇 https://t.co/asGyQ1e0YO

#5 Whitaker (3-1) has placed third in his last two starts over this course and class level, earning solid Brisnet Speed ratings of 73 and 75, and he’s a logical choice to crack the top three again.
Here’s how we’ll bet the Super High 5:
- $1 Super High 5: 2 with 3,5 with 3,5 with 1,4,6 with 1,4,6 ($12)
- $1 Super High 5: 2 with 3,5 with 1,4,6 with 3,5 with 1,4,6 ($12)
- 50-cent Super High 5: 3,5 with 2 with 3,5 with 1,4,6 with 1,4,6 ($6)
- 50-cent Super High 5: 3,5 with 2 with 1,4,6 with 3,5 with 1,4,6 ($6)
Total: $36
Good luck!
