We take on a Pick-3 stream with contenders suggested for single-exotics as well.

Race 3
Ginger’s Bid gets a morning line (ML) of 8-1, which is wildly generous. She burned out early last week at this level, beaten by the 1 and 2 horse here (they are the top two early choices).

Also underrated is Forever Muv, who has been racing better than her odds and has a good chance to be in the mix here, raising the exotic prices as well.

Race 4
Leg two of the Pick 3 offers outsider Grey Roots. Having rolled around some other tracks before returning to Saratoga, The Roll With Joe mare raced two well-crafted miles coming back at a lower rung.

Delightful Trysta’s last race was just all right, compared to the one before it that found her one of the public’s choices and finishing second at this level.

Race 5
Sally De Vie has fooled bettors two in a row in March, finishing strongly in second and third at 15-1 and 71-1, respectively. This is her kind of field to beat, again fooling the crowd.

That’s Incredible will get a lot of play and deserves most of it. She has the kind of speed that this track favors, as well as the 1 hole, as well as she drops in conditions, all adding to her chances making the board and the exotics, at the least.

WoMo / Race 6

Woodbine/Mohawk (WoMo), continues to present complete programs. You will notice a good number of horses from WoMo are on the H2W list as we lay focus upon the programs since the pandemic forced raceways to suspend pari-mutuels activity.

Race 6 begins Pick-5 and Pick-3 streams and includes

This is a fine Claiming/Handicap, with the higher tagged few on the outside, with some claims clouding the step-up status. Also, trainers Richard Moreau and Carmen Auciello each have a pair in this field of seven. In other words, this is an evenly matched field, class-wise.

That being measured, we have to look at Kingofthejungle and P L Idaho because their, drops largely bringing them back to their best levels. Of the pair (one Auciello and one Moreau), Kingofthejungle’s chance to win is better than P L Idaho’s shot, though the latter is the bigger drop. Moreau’s other claimer, Brookletsjustified, couldn’t make it stepping up last time and now he will have to pace at the aforementioned pair from the outside, which might not be a winning move.

If any other in the field could add to exotic prices, it’s Sin City Boogie, who is quite experienced around this kind of competition.

In last weeks Fillies and Mares Open, Jennifer Sabot’s Velocity McSweets was the favorite in the field of six. She made up a ton of ground after a slow start, giving up 7 lengths to an early pacesetter but she raced behind that one and two suck-alongs. One of those, Bertha Vanation, won by a head.

That was Velocity McSweets first race of the season and already the fans were aware of Sabot’s tough barn residents. This week, Velocity McSweets has no excuse if she takes a different path, becoming the closest thing to a lock on the evening.

Flash Me Baby joins the high-level group and will attract a lot of action, enough, we hope, to make Velocity McSweets less appealing to the crowd.

Cal-Expo / Race 10
Friday / March 20

A trainer we have been following as a new member of the horsemen community in Sacramento is Jacob Cutting. In this race, he sends Casey N Grinegan on his seventh trip of the season. Last week at 5-1, “Casey” was aggressive from off the pace at this level, catching the show spot against the public’s second choice that won.

Casey clearly was noticed and supported, as well as an overlay, but here he may be dismissed and register higher than 6-1, considering the presence of last week’s beaten favorite, last week’s winner and place horse.
