Mohawk

The $240k Milton Pace for mares delivers 10 qualifiers from the two elims. The division has been lopsided all season due to the dominating Lyons Sentinel, who took her elim easily. The second, however, resulted in a balanced three-way photo with 35-1 Karma Seelster winning by a neck. So Much More was third in the photo off the toughest trip. That one drew post 10 in the final, probably too difficult a spot to beat the insiders.

An also-eligible in the final, Watch Me Now had a very good trip in the second elim. She went first over and held tough as the backfield closed in and she was caught without losing much ground, finishing sixth. If she gets into the race, she is our decisive bet. If not, we will take the other upset possibility, the unsung JK First Lady. Nancy Takter’s filly is maturing at last and should only get better into her next season; maybe starting here she proves it.

LADY LIKE

Saturday, Sept. 25
Mohawk

A whopping $500k is the pot for the She’s A Great Lady final. Niki Hill and Prohibition Legal, the elim winners, will be the crowd’s top choices.

Just Divine, the Huntsville filly, raced evenly with a midrace first-over move that beat four others in the elim won by Niki Hill. That one looks tough to beat but Just Divine, a Ron Burke trainee, is getting better, and with the best chunk of a half-million bucks on the line, she may find a way to get even better. Burke sure knows that.

METRO MANIA

Saturday, Sept. 25
Mohawk

Two-year-old colt pacers are available by the one dozen in the $824k Metro Pace. The collection of colts comes from Ontario, Pennsylvania (PASS), Kentucky, and Ohio but the Keystone kids are the most dangerous.

PASS-final-winner (at the Meadows) True Blue Lindy is the classiest of the shippers and is conditioned by trainer Jeff Cullipher. His barn has won him two Meadowlands training titles while sending winners to four states, at least. Also from that race comes Nancy Takter’s surprise colt, Wearinmysixshooter, who lost by a neck at 11-1. Those two, one way or the other, are surely set to cross the wire together and the price may be better than you expect.
