Monday’s card at Will Rogers Downs features an opportunity for a circuit-changing maiden claimer as well as an intriguing price play.

Race 2

#6 Maverick Brown (12-1) tops the field in Brisnet Prime Power by almost 5 points in this state-bred $5,000 claimer. Trainer Donald Trett’s homebred is also the least exposed with just 10 career starts, and he’s won or placed in half of them. The slight class drop from $7,500 adds to his longshot appeal. Jockey Gustavo Herrera, who was aboard Trett’s opening-day winner here last Monday, has ridden Maverick Brown to victory at this track last year.

Race 7

#3 Magnitude Ten (3-1) checks a lot more of the Brisnet stats, ranking as best not only in Prime Power but also Speed and Class ratings in this $7,500 maiden claimer. The Florida-bred moves to a softer circuit than her home state, where she started out in $20,000 maiden claimers and most recently competed at the $12,500 level at Gulfstream Park. Although she’s unraced since Jan. 10, trainer Scott Becker has compiled a 32% strike rate in the “46-90 days away” category. The daughter of Kantharos and the stakes-placed Meadowlake mare Earthquake Ride should be capable of breaking her maiden in the right spot, and she picks up Rafael Hernandez.
