Palm Beach Saturday Matinee Preview 5-2-2015
*JS SpeedyPebbles*
What a superstar Saturday we are in for not only at Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Derby, but at Palm Beach as well. Derby Day brings greyhound fans and players 9 Grade A classics in what should be a fantastic day of racing all afternoon long. Here are the top races I will be following for the Saturday Matinee at “The Beach.”
"The Fox"
Race 4 Grade TA 301 Yards
Possibly the best super sprinter ever at Palm Beach.
Last years Track Champion #6 Kb’s Like A Fox from Rader Racing goes for career win #59, in what has been an entertaining career to follow the past 2+ seasons. If he continues to run the way he did in April, he may be able to overtake season wins leader Hustle It Up (24 wins) by the end of this season.
Fox will have both rivals #5 Liberty Trail from The Champions Racing Team and #7 Aye Doctor Ron. Ron has to be put in any exotic plays you have as he has hit the ticket in 6 straight.
Fox can win from any box and setup and I’m going with him to get his second straight here.
Picks 6-7-5-1
*Pebbles*
Race 13 Grade A 545 Yards
The #PebblesNation will be ready to rock today as #5 JS SpeedyPebbles from owner Shannon Henry goes for her 22nd win this season. “The Queen” has looked outstanding lately. 3 wins in 4 starts and is busting the box better than anybody else at the club right now. After getting her 50th career win last time out, how many wins can she get up to? 60 is a real possibility.
#8 Loop A from the Douglas Kennel might cause problems with Pebbles in this race. The Futurity champ frequently has the lead early in his races but has coughed it up at go time consistently. Pebbles is not known to be a closer but she may need to be today in order to secure glory.
#7 O Ya Little Man scored at 18-1 odds last time out and would hit for even more today if he again pulls a stunner.
Her fans will be once again celebrating well into the night, as Pebbles gets win #51.
Picks 5-8-7-4
*Pat C Short Cut*
Race 14 Grade A 545 Yards
Your new #1 racer at this track just might be #3 Pat C Short Cut from the Koppe, Staats & Collins Team. Going for his 6th straight win this afternoon and has looked quite unstoppable lately. Has run two of the fastest splits on the Royal Palm Course by any greyhound ever (29.11 & 29.12 secs) this season. Very powerful greyhound without a doubt.
Possible upset could come from #7 Cbj Jackie O, who showed quite a dynamic close last time out. Veteran #2 CRT Majestic has looped the oval 114 times over the past two seasons and is constantly a threat to hit the board.
Short Cut is on a mission to take over “The Beach” and the dominance continues today.
Picks 3-8-2-7
Top Pick Race 2- #8 Kb’s Gold Rider
Enjoy all of the fabulous racing that Derby Day brings to fans everywhere!
