Palm Beach Top 10 Rankings February 2017

Quite possibly my favorite month of racing ever.

With the Derby Finals watched by a record amount of viewers and all the national attention around The Palm Beach Kennel Club, this was one exciting month to watch these superstar athletes.

Here's our Top 10 Rankings for February at "The Beach."

#1 Janice Dean  ~ Sprinter/Middle Distance  ~ Brindle Kennel

~ 17 wins on the season, 29.30 secs, 37.33 secs best ever time

We have a new #1 and what a storm she is bringing with her this season.  "The Weather Machine" Janice Dean capped off an amazing run in the 3/8ths mile Derby tourney by winning her second straight stakes title last Saturday.  She takes over the top spot that Fraulein Morgan had held basically all season long.  Dean will go for the Triple Crown on March 18th in the St. Patrick's Day Invitational.

#2 Fraulein Morgan  ~ Middle Distance  ~ Janie Carroll Kennel

~26 wins on the season, 37.37 secs best ever time

After a remarkable run as the top racer here, "The Bachelorette" slips to second after her runner up finish to Janice Dean in the Derby.  The season wins leader still has a lot to race for as she has a fantastic shot at a St Pats Invite & is almost a certain lock to take the Track Championship in July. One of the most consistent runners we've ever seen on the middle distance period.

#3 Big Red Dog  ~ Sprinter  ~ Rader Racing

~18 wins on the season, 29.46 secs best ever time

"Clifford" is like a rocket coming out of the starting box.  The two time stakes finalist possess the most lethal break in all of South FLA.  His friends and family on Birdwell Island have to be loving the season he is putting together.

#4 Barts Big Bang ~ Sprinter  ~ Douglas Kennel

~18 wins on the season, 29.19 secs best ever time

When he gets the lead, the stop watch cries out for mercy.

Big Bang is the most powerful greyhound around, with his effortless stride that looks like he is floating.  Huge closer here.

#5 Whirlin Toodlelu  ~ Sprinter  ~ Douglas Kennel

~17 wins on the season, 29.23 secs best ever time

One of the most entertaining greyhounds this year without question.  The crowd favorite simply known as "Toodles" has raced into the hearts of race fans with her thrilling finishes this season. Flair for the dramatic on this superstar.

#6 Wicked Twista  ~ Middle Distance  ~ North Shore Kennel

~9 wins on the season, 37.89 secs best ever time

The name and the game are simply brilliant.  Twista put her name on the map in the Derby tournament, taking two victories including one in the third round over Janice Dean.  The future looks bright for the just turned two year old as she has hit her stride on the "Rhonda" Course.

#7 Hot Prospect Gal  ~ Sprinter  ~ Agganis Kennel

~ 13 wins on the season, 29.18 secs best ever time

This Gal can absolutely blaze a trail on the Royal Palm Course.  Owns the second fastest sprint time of anybody this season and picked up her first blanket when she won the World Series of Poker Award Feature this month. She is an absolute lock against any sprinter here if she gets her preferred outside hole.

#8 Super C Martha  ~ Sprinter  ~ Lester Raines Kennel

~6 wins on the season, 29.45 secs best ever time

This is the biggest prospect at Palm Beach.  The Southland transfer for trainer Kurt Trzeciak ripped off 6 victories in a row to end the month as she is loving her new home in sunny paradise.

#9 Pat C Faro  ~ Sprinter  ~ Koppe, Staats & Collins Kennel

~ 11 wins on the season, 29.36 secs best ever time

Faro has been very impressive in her rookie season, scoring victories in 50% of her starts for owner Pat Collins. Four victories this month nabs a Top 10 ranking for the first time in her young career.

#10 O Ya Sunflower  ~ Sprinter  ~ Lester Raines Kennel

~ 12 wins on the season, 29.54 secs best ever time

This puppy has done more in her career already than most greyhounds will accomplish in their careers.  The two time stakes finalist won't turn two years old until April and has quite the "budding" future ahead of her.
