Palm Beach Weekly Wrap Up 6-11-2017
Another great week of action at the Palm Beach Kennel Club! With only a few weeks left for athletes to make an impression this season, we'll have to stay tuned to see if anything else magical can happen for a campaign that has truly been memorable.
Here's the top stories we saw from the previous 7 days at "The Beach."
Another Huge Day For The Belmont
It has been proven time and time again that big horse races have a direct impact on handles for the greyhound industry and this Saturday for the Belmont was no different. After Palm Beach did over a million bucks for the Derby and & Preakness, America's favorite greyhound destination scored a $907,000 Handle between its Matinee & Evening racing cards. Now this may have fallen short of the million dollar plateau, but is still an extraordinary mark to show the anti racing people who think this sport is on the way out. No chance.
Congrats to Palm Beach on another successful Superstar Saturday!
Full Moon To Start Off Saturday Nights Action
There was a beautiful full moon in the sky over West Palm Beach Saturday night. Nobody knew there'd be a full moon on the track as well.
The box opened up for the first race and 7 greyhounds popped right out for their race. But it was what was still in the box that had patrons and viewers around the world falling off their bar stools.
#2 Atascocita Eaton somehow turned around in the box before the race started, showing just his backside. This does happen from time to time and resulted in a DNF for the youngster. Talking to track officials, they have no idea how the greyhounds can do this with how narrow the starting box is. How Track Announcer Mike Jameson kept his giggles to himself during this race is quite a feat.
Quite a hilarious start to the night's racing that is for sure!

More Shenanigans In West Virginia
To say West Virginia has some goofy lawmakers would be a severe understatement. Multiple congress members reintroduced a greyhound defunding bill this past week in hopes of killing off the industry. If this sounds familiar, that's because it is. The kennel owners, governor and fans defeated a similar bill to this just two months ago.
This anti-racing ridiculousness has to stop. The people of West Virginia, the USA, Australia, the UK etc. have had this demon on their backs for far too long. The lies and venom spread by these so called animal welfare groups is appalling. The fact that our friends in the Mountaineer State have to go through this possibly again is just heartbreaking.
We wrote a victory article after Governor Jim Justice vetoed the original bill two months ago, and I have no problem writing one again once this nonsense is over.
Here is a great article explaining the exact specifics of this new bill:
http://ow.ly/rRa730cngEeWe had a "fabulous" time celebrating the career of newly retired superstar Fraulein Morgan this past week! Watching old replays and hearing from fans on our social media feed about how much Morgan meant to them was truly a pleasure.
After one remarkable run with Janice Dean early in the season after she won two stakes titles, trainer Alvin Rink from the Brindle Kennel became a household name around the world. Now he's bringing along another star that could be sensationally special going into the summer racing schedule.
Lr Coco won her 5th victory in a row on the 660 Yard Rhonda Course as Sunday, showing one ferocious fire kick to win in 38.08 secs. Coco who transferred up from Hollywood has absolutely loved her new home at the corner of Belvedere and Congress. The Brindle Kennel, who has lacked star power in the past, has made remarkable strides with Rink at the helm.
