Pick 3 of the Week: Turfway Park Saturday

The $777,000 Jeff Ruby Steaks (G3) highlights a major 13-race slate on Saturday at Turfway Park, and I will try to get the day started in a positive way with the Pick 3 of the Week early in the card.
Race 1 Wager:
- $1 Pick 3: 6,7,9 with 2,7,8,12 with 9,10,12 ($36)
Race 1 – Maiden Special Weight
A six furlong dash on the Tapeta for sophomore fillies will kick things off with an overflow field of 13 signed on for the affair. #6 Listen and Learn (7-2) was a smart second on the surface two back and lost all chances with a poor break most recently when going off favored. Caracaro filly is from a solid family of early types and could surely be the one with a rebound performance today. Adam Beschizza has the call.
#7 Spinning Glory (3-1) was a big second after leading most of the way in her first run and looks like the one to beat today. Spun to Run sophomore will force the action from the start under Corrales. First time starter #9 Oraia (8-1) cost a healthy $550,000 as a yearling and the chestnut daughter of Gun Runner will be a major factor if she runs to her price tag in this one. I feel good with this trio to get things underway.
Race 2 – Maiden Special Weight
Sophomore fillies will run one-mile in the affair with an overflow cast of 14 entered. #2 Whippoorwill (3-1) showed vast improvement on the move to this surface when running a winning race in defeat while finishing second at the distance most recently. Trained by Kelsey Danner, the dark bay daughter of Midnight Lute will be very tough to upend with a forward move under Irving Moncada.
Second-time starter #7 Peqot (10-1), longshot #8 Perfect Snow (20-1), and Brendan Walsh’s #12 Beach Wedding (7-2) will also be added in the middle leg.
Race 3 – Optional Claiming
A full field of males will travel eight furlongs on the Tapeta in the challenging closing leg of the play. #10 Gray’s Fable (5-2) finished a very good second in his first assignment for Wesley Ward on the oval most recently and will be tough with even slight improvement on this occasion. The 10-year-old gelding has hit the board in both of his synthetic tries to date and will improve in his second run off the bench, too. Walter Rodriguez will pilot the old timer.
#9 Race Craft (15-1) is very inconsistent, but the Mike Maker trainee can really run when he’s doing his best work, and the son of Street Sense is worth using on this occasion. The bay is a winner over the course and will be stalking the pace early under Juan Hernandez. Kelsey Danner’s #12 Welaka (6-1) has run well in two local outings in advance of this one and doesn’t need major improvement to upset the cast from the outside post slot.
