Pick 3 play for Woodbine on June 13

June 12th, 2021

A 13-race card offering big fields with attractive betting opportunities is on tap at Woodbine on Sunday. One of my favorite things about the racing north of the border is the prices, as numerous events end with the horse crossing the wire in first offering excellent value. I have scoured the fine card and found a good sequence that is especially worthwhile to make a play on.

Race 9 -- Allowance

The 1 1/16-mile turf test for the boys attracted an overflow field of 16 in a very tough handicapping challenge. I will spread to kick off the wager.

#11 Souper Watson (4-1) is my tepid top pick for Casse, but he is by no means a single in my opinion. Catherine Day Phillips’ #6 Holyfield (8-1) and Breeders’ S. third #5 English Conqueror (6-1) will also make the ticket.

Race 10 -- Optional Claiming

Five-furlong dash on the all-weather surface features a dozen in another demanding puzzle. Norman McKnight’s speedy #3 Forest Survivor (6-1) could be the inside speed of the field, but I fear that the chestnut son of Old Forester will take pressure every step of the way in the abbreviated sprint.

#5 Executive Search (3-1), #6 Kid Forester (20-1), and #9 Have a Souper Day (12-1), each has appeal for different reasons and will be included in the second leg.

Race 11 -- Optional Claiming

A huge field of 14 will contest the seven-furlong endeavor to close out the card. My top pick is #13 Solidify (10-1), who was a superb winner off of a similar layoff at the same distance last campaign. Gelded son of Tapizar has a big turn of foot and will be tough to hold off late under Husbands.

I also like #8 Avie’s Flatter (3-1) for Josie Carroll. The three-time classic-placed son of Flatter sports a solid 6-2-2-0 local line, and he has run some of his better races off the shelf as well. Luis Contreras will take the reins.

Pick 3 Wager

  • $1 pick 3 : 5,6,11 with 3,5,6,9 with 8,13 ($24)

Good Luck!
