Pick 4 of the Week: Gulfstream Park Saturday [Feb 15]

February 13th, 2025

The Pick 4 of the Week will comprise the final four races on the Saturday card at Gulfstream Park which includes the feature, the $165,000 Royal Delta S. (G3).

Race 9 Wager

  • 50-cent Pick 4: 4,6 with 2,12 with 7,8,9 with 1,2,3,6,7,11 ($36)

Race 9 – Optional Claiming

A total of nine males will go the one-turn mile on the dirt in the opening leg. The lightly raced #4 Knightsbridge will make his seasonal debut in the event for conditioner Bill Mott. The Godolphin homebred flashed huge potential from a trio of races as a sophomore and will be tough to upend if he shows any improvement in his first run at four.

#6 Uno Mas Bourbon might want more ground with which to work to be at his best, but the Ian Wilkes trainee charge has a lot of ability, as well as a fine turn of foot. If the pace backs up in the lane which is possible, then the Super Derby winner will be a big threat late under Dylan Davis.

Race 10 – Optional Claiming

Turf test for fillies and mares will be contested at 1 1/16 miles and a dozen are set to go postward. I like #12 Hello Hollywood most in the affair but have some fear with her drawing widest of all. This Christophe Clement trainee broke her maiden on the surface and had a nice prep for this with a good effort on the synthetic off the long absence. Dylan Davis will pilot the Oscar Performance filly.

#2 Princess Bettina, who was third in the Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf most recently, could peak in her third effort off the long break. Brian Lynch trainee will have John Velazquez in the silks.

Race 11 – Royal Delta S. (G3)

A deep field of 11 fillies and mares will go postward in the feature at 1 1/16 miles on the dirt. I’ll go three-deep in the affair led by #7 Dazzling Move, who is one of three in the field for Saffie Joseph. The Not This Time four-year-old is not especially consistent, but she registered some strong runs as a sophomore and looks like a fine fit for this field. Her fourth in the Rampart S. to cap 2024 was much better than it looks on paper, and she smashed a bullet four panels as of late in preparation for her first run for the barn.

#8 Grand Job has decimated a pair of fields since arriving in the States and makes her stakes debut in a realistic spot. The Justify filly has speed as well as a strong closing kick, and she will force the tempo under Junior Alvarado. Multiple stakes heroine #9 Miss New York will be dangerous with anything resembling her best for Jorge Delgado.

Race 12 – Maiden Claiming

The finale is for sophomores going 1 1/16 miles on the lawn. There is no way that I can single to close out the sequence, so my approach will be to spread with multiple contenders. #1 Bay of Bengal#2 Governing Party#3 Culpa#6 Back in the Saddle#7 Papa Golf, and #11 War Warrior will each be included.
