Pick 4 of the Week: Oaklawn Park Sunday

An excellent late sequence, headlined by a trio of graded tilts, comprises the Pick 4 of the Week at Oaklawn Park on Sunday.
Race 9 Wager
$.50-cent Pick 4: 1 with all with 5,10 with 8,9,11,12 ($56)
Race 9 – Honeybee S. (G3)
A total of 13 sophomore fillies are entered for the 1 1/16-mile affair. The unbeaten #1 Muhimma (7-5) is the clear one to beat in her seasonal debut. The Brad Cox pupil has been impressive in each of her trio of lifetime runs to date and has trained well in preparation for her seasonal bow. The Grade 2 heroine will be prominent throughout under regular pilot Florent Geroux.
I’m not a huge fan of having a single with a favorite to start a wager of this nature in general, but I feel that she is a standout in the contest and will do so on this occasion.
Race 10 – Razorback H. (G3)
A challenging leg two will feature a full field of 14 going 1 1/16 miles. The group lacks a clear standout, and there are also no horses that I can toss with confidence, so I will hit the ‘all’ button and hope that I find value, which is more than possible in the deep contest.

The Michael McCarthy trainee Bullard uncorked a strong rally to run down the Bob Baffert hotpot Kalea Bay on Sunday. The $675K yearling is a Gun Runner 1/2 brother to Mundaye Call.

Race 11 – Rebel S. (G2)
The feature event of the afternoon attracted another full cast of 14. Bob Hope S. (G3) winner #10 Bullard (5-1) is my top selection in the 2025 Road to the Kentucky Derby qualifier. The Mike McCarthy trainee gives the impression of a colt who will thrive going long for the initial time and will also receive the right setup in his local debut. Umberto Rispoli comes out to retain the ride atop the expensive son of Gun Runner.
Bob Baffert has won the race on eight occasions and will send out #5 Madaket Road (9-2) in hopes of extending his mark to nine victors. The Quality Road colt was third in the Robert B. Lewis S. (G3) in his two-turn bow and is training in swift fashion leading up to Saturday. Irad Ortiz, Jr. taking the reins is a major positive, too. While I feel that many others have a chance, as well, I’ll stick with the pair of California imports for this wager.
Race 12 – Maiden Special Weight
A six-furlong dash for Arkansas-bred runners closes out the play and an overflow field of 14 is signed on. I feel that four-year-olds have a distinct advantage over their sophomore counterparts at this time of the year and will focus on the older runners to close it out.
#8 Two Dollar Eddie (3-1), #9 Tizmarkus (7-2), #11 Touchdown Arkansas (10-1), and #12 Miracle Mark (8-1) will be the ones.
