Hawkesbury – Australia Race 5A
#6 Cape Leonard (7-2) (jockey Sam Clipperton)
Former Victorian-based filly looks set to peak here at her third run for a new stable, after two solid performances in the city. In her first prep last spring, she showed decent staying promise without winning, including a seventh in a Group 3 event at Caulfield, where she made up a lot of ground late. The step up to the 1800 meters of this, combined with her fitness levels improving, as well as a couple of gear changes, are all big ticks and expect her to prove extremely hard to beat against provincial-level maidens.
