Player Quick Pick: Del Mar for 8/6/14
Del Mar 5 | 7:05 pm ET
Md Sp Wt for 3yo&up going 1 mi
The key race on Wednesday for the multi race wager players is the fifth; it ends the pick 5, is the third leg of the pick 6, which has a carryover of just under $200,000, and it starts the pick 4. The morning line favorite and horse to beat is MISSING GROOM from the Jerry Hollendorfer barn. MISSING GROOM finished 11th in his last race, but that was on the turf and he broke from an impossible post. The post gets a bit better here and so does the competition. BEACH FEVER makes his Polytrack debut after two good races on the dirt at Santa Anita and Los Al. He has been working well in the mornings over the surface and should work out a good trip from post seven. PROSPECTOR ALLEY will eventually win a race like this. John Sadler, his trainer, excels with these types of horses at Del Mar. TUFF STORM and LINDANTE also fit off the layoff after finishing third and fourth in a maiden special weight race over the turf at Santa Anita in June. Aside from BEACH FEVER the only other horse to not lose at this state-bred level is GOLDEN GUY, who ships down from northern California.
