Windward for 3YO&Up F&M going 1 mi
Trainer Jonathan Sheppard looks to have gotten the perfect prep race into NASHINDY and the five-year-old mare can get her first stakes win in the Windward on Sunday at Presque Isle. The daughter of A.P. Indy has only run six times in her career, but has three wins and two seconds. Two of those wins came at Presque Isle in route races. While NASHINDY is the mare to bet, especially if close to her 6-1 morning line, ABSOLUTE CRACKERS is the one to beat. By Giant's Causeway, ABSOLUTE CRACKERS is coming off a win over the track and has been in-the-money in 10 of her 16 career starts. AWESOME FLOWER is the second choice on the morning line, coming off her first lost on a synthetic surface in the Grade 3 Arlington Matron. She is one-for-one at Presque Isle, scoring in the HBPA Stakes last year. She will be sitting mid-pack just off the speed. There does appear to be a decent amount of pace in the race and that will help the other Jonathan Sheppard trained filly, PRIMED FOR PASSION, who finished behind ABSOLUTE CRACKERS in their last. Take note that Mario Pino likely had his choice between her and NASHINDY and he chose PRIMED FOR PASSION. DRAMA DRAMA finished third behind ABSOLUTE CRACKERS and PRIMED FOR PASSION in that allowance race and is one to use for any trifecta or superfecta wager.
